Tribology—The Key to Proper Lubricant Selection
In the past, the lubrication requirements for a specific application could be satisfied using one of the available general-purpose lubricants. Lubricant selection typically was based on experience and empirical knowledge. This approach is no longer viable in today’s exacting environments, which entail ever-increasing demands to run faster, longer, and hotter. Today’s lubricants must satisfy the extreme requirements that are specific to each application.
